NEUROGENIC SHOCK, noun. Shock caused by extreme excitability of the parasympathetic nervous system. This hyperexcitability is caused by severe pain and results in an extreme slowing of heartbeat and pulse. This leads to a dangerous drop in blood pressure and hence, shock.
